Santa Marta: A Historic First Step, but a Long Road Ahead
Our senior global climate justice reporter Nina Lakhani just returned from the Santa Marta conference in Colombia, a global convening with a singular aim: to create a blueprint for actually getting off of fossil fuels.
Co-hosted by The Netherlands and Colombia, the conference brought together policymakers from 57 countries alongside Indigenous peoples, Afro-descendant peoples, youth climate activists, unions, civil society groups and more.
Here, Nina gives Amy a rundown of what she saw at the conference, where there were big wins and where there were major gaps. Keep an eye out for Nina's analysis on the website later this week as well!
